GSA taps 17 for Connections contracts

The General Services Administration last week awarded contracts to 17 companies through its Connections program to provide telecommunications equipment and support services to ,federal agencies.

The contracts, announced Friday by the Federal Technology Service, replace several expiring, regional equipment and services contracts. The awards were made in three service categories: equipment and services, support services and solutions.

“The Connections Program focuses on telecommunications infrastructure and the complex environment of the first and last mile,” FTS commissioner Sandra Bates said. “This award gives customers a choice of industry partners, packaging options and solutions designed to facilitate the convergence of voice, data and video solutions in the federal workspace.”

Equipment and services include voice, data and video equipment, microwave systems, wire and cable, and installation and maintenance. Support services include a range of technical and professional labor skills. The solutions category includes infrastructure requirements using turnkeys, integration services and managed services.

Each of the indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contracts has a base period of three years and five one-year options.
