May 9, 2013: The Veterans Affairs Department awarded a contract for national cellular service and devices valued at $200 million to three carriers: AT&T Mobility; Verizon Wireless; and A&T Systems, a company in Silver Spring, Md., that says it provides telecommunications and information infrastructure to federal, state and local governments.

A&T Systems, Inc., is one of 25 winners on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Public Information and Communication Services (PICS) multi-award contract that is valued at $500 million over a 5-year period. The contract provides a wide range of communication services including:
- Content development phases: full-service advertising—from research to graphic design/writing and publication
- Platforms: from traditional print materials through website, television, radio, and social media
- Support: media analysis, market targeting, information referral and tracking, translation, websites, IT and database for electronic distribution, exhibits and events, and warehouses and physical distribution
- Types/forums: scientific and health-related documents, advertisements, training, public service announcements, blogs, newsletters, meetings and conferences, brochures, advocacy materials
